OHEA Bargaining Update June 15, 2018

  • It was another long day at the table on Wednesday.

  • There was a lot of discussion around financial proposals but there was no movement from the District.

  • Superintendent Gibbon said that planned equipment and curriculum purchases for the Fall of 18 - 19 will go forward as planned. Students and teachers will have what they need to start the school year.

  • OHEA continues to maintain that you deserve the full salary allocation provided by McCleary in the 18-19 school year.

Your Bargaining Team

Your bargaining team continues to work for you throughout the summer.

Additional bargaining dates with the district were added in July.

We will be at the table on Monday, July 23 and Tuesday, July 24.

August bargaining dates are August 7, 8, and 15.

We need a strong OHEA to fight for the pay and benefits we deserve.

If we’ve learned anything over the years, it’s that no one is going to give us anything.

We have to fight for it, and we are more effective when we are united and strong

Bargaining Has Begun

We have shared our list of issues and concerns. The District listened carefully and expressed a desire to improve upon the present working conditions.

Most recently, we delivered the Association's view of the new funding from the state. According to our research, based on data submitted to OSPI by the District, OHPS will receive a 12 million dollar increase in funding dollars from the state. The Legislature intended most of those funds for salary increases to meet the requirement of the McCleary ruling by the supreme court

OHEA remains steadfast in our desire to increase compensation to correct the decades' long error by the state of withholding proper funding for schools and the reluctance of the district to increase TRI pay.

Solidarity matters. Your participation matters.

We don't want to be WV, OK, AZ, or CO, but we stand with them.
